Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
Although we’re physically located in the greater-Boston area, our programs can be delivered anywhere in the country.

Do you travel?
Yes. We are happy to come to your location.

Can you conduct programs at any site or location?
Yes. Clients often use conference centers, office locations, and other client-specific locations.

What do you do about inclement weather for outdoor events?
Depending on the location and time of year, we create contingency plans that are just as much fun and just as beneficial.

Can The Office Outdoors help facilitate meetings?
Yes. The benefit of having an outsider facilitator is that you can take part in the process as a member of the team, rather than play the role of facilitator yourself. Whether it’s facilitating a meeting or taking the group through a problem solving, decision-making or planning process, we have the experience and tools to make the process easy, interactive and productive.

What equipment is included in the bicycle programs?
We supply all bicycles together with the equipment you’ll need for a safe, comfortable and enjoyable riding experience. We provide all riders with a fitted bike and helmet, van support and lively, energetic guide to help you along the way. We use Specialized Globe Hybrid/city-style road bikes provided by Landry’s Bicycles. They are available in a range of sizes for men and women. We encourage avid cyclists and advanced riders to bring their own bicycles.

What should I wear?
For walking and biking programs, wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing suitable to weather conditions. Also wear sneakers or sturdy footwear. (Avoid sandals or open-toed shoes.) All this information will be available prior to your activity.

What is your commitment to safety?
The safety and comfort of our guests/participants is the most important consideration of The Office Outdoors. Our guides are Red Cross certified in Standard First Aid and Adult CPR/AED. Our bicycles and helmets are outfitted with headlights and reflective stripes.

Our guides begin each program with a “Route Rap” that covers safety precautions and route overview. This is done so that everyone knows the traffic laws, proper hand signals, safety procedures and route that the group is traveling.

How do you handle resistance from people who aren’t comfortable with physical exercise or have disability challenges?
It’s not unusual for some people to show resistance to physical exercise or have physical challenges. Since our clients vary in age, gender and physical capabilities, we design every program to ensure that everyone can participate. Whenever possible we choose quiet, uncongested roads with terrain that is easy for beginners to handle. We also offer the option of tandem bicycles which may encourage some riders to buddy up.

Are the biking programs for all levels of riders?
For company or team meetings, our group rides are designed for riders of all levels with easy-to- moderate terrain. Our goal is to provide an experience where people improve self-esteem and confidence by learning new skills in a low-impact, non-threatening manner. We will work with you to identify more advanced riders and provide a route that meets their needs as well.

How much do the programs cost?
The costs depend on the size of your group, your objective, and your unique needs. Please contact us to discuss this further so you can learn how your team members will share an experience designed just for them. Remember, whatever the cost, your return on investment (ROI) will be in corporate savings.
